How and why did you end up working in the events industry?
During my exchange year while pursuing my M. A. International Communication degree, I was working part time at the ICC of St. Petersburg. That's where I organized and attended my very first event – an international conference giving Moroccan companies the opportunity to meet Russian companies. It was such a great feeling to see all these people that I had brought together connecting and networking. The excitement was almost palpable: good vibes, meetings, discussions, new business relations... I felt very proud of making that happen. The following year I had an amazing internship opportunity as a Sponsoring/Sales Specialist for the Omnivore Festival at GL Events in France. That was it, I was in love with the events industry.
What do you like most about working for the industry?
It’s an incredible industry full of people passionate about what they do. In my opinion, no other industry comes close. Our job is basically bringing people together so they can discuss, innovate, share their knowledge and their ideas, do business and enjoy the company of each other. Everyone in the events industry knows how hard it is: Some days you need to work late at night and you always have to expect the unexpected. Particularly when it’s a first edition of an event, there are always small and often very obvious details we forget in the rush. There are almost always last minute changes and you need to find a solution in a very short amount of time. I believe this industry teaches you to always keep calm, prioritize and be ready to quickly find solutions or workarounds.

What are you most excited or passionate about?
I’m passionate about my clients! I get to meet so many interesting people from the industry and I love seeing the amazed faces of clients or prospects when they realize how our software will help them improve their business. I’ve been in their shoes so I know what they’re going through. It’s nice to be able to help and drive them into an easier and more efficient way of working.
What is the most memorable event you have ever been to?
I guess it was Sirha 2017 and its "Bocuse d’Or" competition. I’ve never seen such a spectacular event before – so much positive tension, passion and so many emotions on stage!
What advice would you have for someone going into the events industry?
Expect the unexpected and you will never be surprised!
